Random animal generator
The random animal generator picks one or more animals from a ready-made list. Choose a theme or use the filters, then make a fresh set for a lesson, game, drawing, or story.
Ways to use it
Start a drawing or story
Get one quick prompt, or pick three and put them in the same scene.
Pick a class topic
Choose a short report, habitat question, movement break, or word game.
Play a group game
Make a set for charades, a drawing game, or a surprise team mascot.
How it works
Choose the pool
Use the first list, load a theme, or narrow the first list by habitat and group.
Set the amount
Pick 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10. No name shows twice in one set.
Go again
Keep repeats off to work through the pool. Reset used names to start a new round.
Random animal generator questions
Quick notes on lists, filters, repeats, and the wheel.
Can I generate more than one animal?
Yes. Pick 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10. You can copy the names as a list.
What animal lists can I use?
Start with 30 popular animals or choose a theme such as Farm animals, Pets, Birds, Dinosaurs, Ocean animals, or African safari. The full library is broad, but it is not a complete list of every species.
Can I filter the animals?
The first list has habitat and group filters. Theme lists are small, so they do not need those filters.
Will the same animal appear twice?
A set has no repeats. Keep Avoid repeats on to skip past picks until the pool starts a new round.
How is the generator different from the animal wheel?
The generator reveals results at once. The animal wheel spins the full list on screen and lets you edit each option.
